In nature, microbes are constantly engaged in an intimate relationship with different parts of the plant. These microbial associations are critical for plant health and can range anywhere from pathogenic to beneficial interactions. While several microbes infect the susceptible plant to acquire nutrients, many beneficial microbes provide nutrients to the plants. The focus of my research program is to understand pathogenic as well as beneficial plant-microbe interactions with the goal of sustainable agriculture.
